Cas Anvar is Expanding to Escape Velocity

Cas Anvar warps into Escape Velocity!

We are excited to announce that Cas Anvar who plays everyone’s favorite Martian navy pilot, Alex Kamal in SyFy’s hit series ‘The Expanse” will be joining us. The Expanse is based on the popular novel series written by James S.A. Corey. You can meet Cas at Escape Velocity where he’ll be hosting a Q and A  panel, signing autographs, and meeting with fans all weekend.

In addition to ‘The Expanse,’ Cas has appeared in ‘The Terminal’, ‘Source Code’, ‘The Vatican Tapes’ and the multi-Oscar winners ‘Argo’ and ‘Room’. You can also find Cas in ‘Lost’ as Naveen Andrews’ brother, on ‘Castle’ with Nathan Fillion, he’s part of a great SyFy epic fantasy adventure, ‘Neverland’, as Gentleman Starkey and many other TV shows. He’s currently a series regular on ‘The Strain’ as the alluringly dark Sanjay Desai.

Cas can also do incredible things as a voice actor. Fans love to interact with his Assassins Creed alter ego: ALTAIR. It’s one of his most popular roles and fans can sometimes see him donning the Altair garb but they will always catch him with his hidden blade strapped to his arm. Cas is always engaging and loves to chat and take photos with his fans.

Cas will have a panel open to the public during the weekend and a special VIP experience. Buy now: Anvar Experience Ticket: $100 each – limited to only 20 fans

Escape Room
Last month we announced a new attraction to this year’s show: an original escape room specially designed for Escape Velocity. While our friends at Room Escape DC who are crafting and running the room want to keep a lot of it a surprise, we can tell you there will be a theme of time travel weaved into two, 30-minute experiences featuring past and future technology. They can be played singularly or in tandem in whichever order you choose. Because these are timed events, there are a limited number of tickets available each day, so reserve a spot in advance to ensure you don’t miss out!

Space Party DJ
Shaleigh is a singer and DJ from DC whose musical influences include Imogen Heap, Lana del Rey, Banks, Kid Cudi, and Eminem. You’ll be able to hear her spinning tracks live all night at the Space Party on the evening of September 1, but you can listen to a sample of her music now on her Soundcloud page.

We’ll be adding many more new guests, exhibitors, and attractions as we get closer to September 1, so follow us on Twitter to keep up with all the announcements. Rooms at the Marriott Wardman Park can still be reserved for a special convention rate!

Lots of Cool Science Activities for Children
How do you get kids more excited about learning science? Escape Velocity 2017 has lots of cool educational opportunities! Check out our event program here.
