Escape Velocity: one week to go!
Our inaugural science fiction convention which we announced back in May 2015 is nearly upon us, and we couldn’t be more excited to bring it to you all. If you haven’t already, check out the full program guide and start planning your visit. For those fans staying in the hotel, don’t forget our slate of evening activities designed with our adult fans in mind. Star Trek Into Darkness Tickets at Wolf Trap
We’re giving you a chance to see Star Trek Into Darkness with the National Symphony Orchestra performing the film’s score live. This one night only event will take place July 30 at Wolf Trap in Vienna, VA and is sure to be a memorable evening for any Star Trek fan. Drone Discussion Panel
FPV Drone racing won’t be the only unmanned aerial vehicles at Escape Velocity. The US Navy Museum will be demonstrating new technology and the DC Drone Users Group will also be showing the latest developments in unmanned aerial systems. Don’t miss the drone discussion panel to hear about what’s coming next.
Mindstorms Giveaway

Gala Dinner
Saturday evening’s gala dinner is your chance to meet some of our wonderful guests including Adam Nimoy, Gigi Edgley, Luvia Petersen, Dan Curry, and Jamie Anderson. There will be an awards ceremony where we will recognize the winners of our CubeSat competition, and our keynote presenter, Rod Roddenberry, will speak about his father’s legacy as the series celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.

Art Way Alliance
Want to learn how to draw your own comic book? Art Way Alliance is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping children in the DC area learn to draw comic books and anime/manga. They’ll be at Escape Velocity Saturday afternoon. Fans of all ages are encouraged to visit their booth to learn how to become the next great comic book artist!
T-shirt designs
Choose your favorite ship silhouette on the inaugural Escape Velocity 2016 official event t-shirt, available at the Museum Store, located near Exhibit Hall D. Choices include: the Falcon, TARDIS, Enterprise, Firefly Serenity, Galactica, 2001 Orion, and the fighter from Babylon 5.
